It was precisely this idea that gave rise to the MBD Custom Shop Series. Not as another special edition. Not as a limited color variation. But as an independent interpretation of what a Fender Custom Shop guitar can be when guided by an instinct for "the best." For many years, we at Musikhaus Hermann have worked closely with the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California. Through personal visits, in-depth conversations with the Masterbuilders, and continuous exchange on construction, materials, and playing feel, a philosophy developed step by step.
A philosophy that can now be felt in every single MBD guitar.

The exclusive Midas Treatment, combined with a Super Heavy Relic finish in Faded/Aged, made its European debut with the MBDII Series! A relic aesthetic of the highest caliber, meticulously refined down to the smallest detail for connoisseurs who demand the ultimate experience.

To build the finest instrument possible.
That is why every MBD begins with an uncompromising selection of materials.
Lightweight, exceptionally resonant alder or ash bodies are carefully selected (Sort for Lightweight Body Wood). Rift Sawn Maple provides exceptional neck stability and optimal transfer of vibration. Selected Dark Rosewood fingerboards combine refined aesthetics with outstanding response.
The neck profiles have been refined over many years and rank among the most sought-after specifications throughout the series. Heavily rolled fingerboard edges provide the playing feel of a perfectly broken-in vintage instrument.
StewMac 155S Medium Vintage Frets combine classic feel with modern precision.
Hand-wound Fender Custom Shop pickups – on numerous models crafted by Josefina Campos – provide clarity, dynamics, and exceptional expressive power.
Thinly applied nitrocellulose finishes allow the wood to resonate freely and give each guitar its own distinctive character – from the authentic Journeyman Relic through Heavy Relic to the flawless Prestige NOS finish.
Each MBD is completed with exclusive details such as the specially developed MBD Neck Plate, selected hardware, and, depending on the model, additional exclusive upgrades.
